# Exporting products from store

If you need to update information for a large number of products, you don’t have to edit them one by one through your site’s settings. Using **product export**, you can download product data into a spreadsheet, make changes there, and import the updated data back into your store.

Here’s how to do it.

# Exporting products

To export information about your products, follow these steps:

1. Open your website’s settings, go to the **Products** section, and click **Export**:

2. You’ll then see a pop-up window with the following options:

* Export **All Products**;
* Export products from one or more **Categories**;
* Export **Selected products**. To enable this option, you must first select the desired products from the list before clicking the **Export** button.

After selecting the option you need, click the **Next step** button.

3. As the final step, select the desired file separator and click **Download CSV**:

4. Done! The file has been generated and is being downloaded to your device. Please note that if you are exporting a large number of products, this may take some time.

### Editing the file

After clicking the **Download CSV** button, you’ll receive a file in .csv format. We recommend working with it in Google Sheets, since Excel doesn’t always open .csv files correctly right away, and requires prior experience working with this format.

|| ${color}[#ffa800](Note:) The note above is just our recommendation — you can use any spreadsheet program: Excel, LibreOffice, or the native Numbers app for macOS, etc.
|| However, please note that in this case, our support team will not be able to provide detailed guidance on the nuances of how these programs handle the .csv format — particularly regarding the import/export of such files — but only on ensuring the spreadsheet itself is filled out correctly.

After successfully opening the file in a spreadsheet program, you can make the necessary changes and then import the products back through your site’s settings, using the **Import** button in the **Products** section.

||| ${color}[#f97700](Important:) Working with the product spreadsheet involves a number of rules that must be followed when editing; otherwise, the re-import will fail. In particular, do not edit the existing values in the **ID** and **Variant** columns, so as not to create new products instead of editing the old ones, and use the correct data format and values for the table columns.
