# Menu bar settings

The site menu allows visitors to quickly find the pages they need and easily navigate between sections. It is located in the header and/or footer and is a key element of site navigation.

New pages created in the editor **are not automatically added to the menu** and remain accessible only via a direct link. To help users find them, add these pages to your site’s menu.

# Adding a Menu element

* By default, if you are working with a pre-made template or adding a **Header** block from the block gallery, the **Menu** element will already be present in it.

* However, if you want to place the menu in a different header row or set up multiple menus within a single block, you can add this element to an existing filled or empty column in one of your blocks. To do this, click the icon for adding a new element and select the **Horizontal Menu** or **Vertical Menu** element from the list of available options:

# Setting up a Menu element

### Adding menu items

1. Hover over the menu and click the “gear” icon to open its settings:

2. In the **Items** tab, click **Add menu item** at the bottom of the window or under an existing item to add a new menu item:

4. To add a subitem, click the three dots next to the desired item and select **Create subitem**:

| ${color}[#1aa900](Tip:) You can also convert an existing item into a subitem.

5. In the same menu, you can delete, duplicate, or rename existing items.

6. To change the order of menu items, click and hold the icon to the left of the item’s name and drag it to the desired location:

### Adding pages to the menu items

By default, menu items have no action assigned to them — you need to manually specify which page should be opened.

To do this, open the menu item settings, select the desired click action, set it up, and then click **Apply:**

### Changing a menu’s appearance

1. In the **Layout** tab of the menu settings, you can change the display orientation of menu items from horizontal to vertical or vice versa:

|| ${color}[#ffa800](Note:) In this section, you can also control how long menu item names are displayed. If the abbreviation option is enabled, the names will be shortened; if it is disabled, the text of the name will wrap to the next line.

2. In the **Style** tab, you can customize the appearance of the text in the menu — specifically its font size, weight, color, letter spacing etc.:

3. If the menu contains subitems, you can also customize the style of their dropdown menu:

### Changing the font of menu items

1. To change the menu font, open the **Site styles** settings in the editor control panel and go to the **Typography** section:

2. In the list of text types, select **Text** and, by clicking the “gear” icon, go to its settings:

3. In the dropdown list, you can select the desired font for the site menu:

||| ${color}[#f97700](Important:) Your site’s style settings, including text type settings, are global. This change applies to all text elements that use the Text type.
