Editing products in your Store

To keep the information about products on the website up to date, you can edit their settings at any time. In particular, you can change the description, price, availability status, and other characteristics.

In this article, we will look at what settings are available for products and how you can work with them.

Contents:

To edit a specific product, go to the Products section of your site settings, then click on the product name or the three dots next to it and select the Edit option:

General product settings

At the top of these settings, you can manage the photos and videos that will be displayed in the card and on the selected product page.

Click Add media files to upload a photo or insert a link to a video previously posted on YouTube. It is not possible to upload video files directly from your device.

Note: The following formats are supported: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF. The maximum file size is 10 MB.

Important: YouTube videos in shorts format are not supported for products, so you need to replace shorts/ with watch?v= in the video link to convert it to the standard format.

Next, in the Product Name field, you can edit the name of the product that will be displayed on your website. This is a required field — without filling it in, you will not be able to successfully save the created product. The minimum number of characters in the name is 3, the maximum is 250.

The SKU and Product code fields contain identification codes that can be used to search for a product. The SKU is set manually and is only used by the website owner in the store settings. The product code is generated automatically and can be used by buyers directly on the website. The SKU field is required, with a minimum of 3 characters.

Note: if the product has additional options (e.g., different colors or sizes), the SKU and Product Code are configured separately for each option. These fields will not be available in the General tab — they can only be managed in the settings for a specific variant, in the Product options tab.

Tip: If you plan to use sales channels such as Facebook Commerce Manager or Google Merchant Center, it is important that each product has a unique SKU.

The Description field allows you to specify all the necessary information about the product, which will then be displayed on the product page on the website.

Tip: You can use artificial intelligence to help you write product descriptions using the AI-writer feature. To do this, click on the pencil icon. You can learn more about how to use this tool in our article.

You can format your text: activate bold or italics for certain words, specify the desired alignment, add bulleted or numbered lists.

Highlight the word, phrase, or sentence you want, and click on the add link icon to add a link to a specific page on your site or an external source:

Tip: click on the gear icon to go to the action selection menu.

If the product description includes a phone number or email address, you can also highlight this text and add the appropriate action so that when clicked, a call is made or the mail application opens:

Note: For these actions to work, the device viewing the page must be able to make calls and/or have an email application installed.

In the Categories section, you can manage which categories the selected product is in: you can add it to one or more categories, remove the product from them, and specify the main category for this product. Learn more about creating and working with categories in our article.

Tip: if you need to add a large number of products to one category at once, you can do this using bulk editing in the product list. To do this, select the desired products with a check mark and place them in a category using the Actions with product drop-down menu.

The Attributes section allows you to add and edit product characteristics. You can add both standard attributes (Brand, Age Group, Gender) and create new ones to suit your needs.

In Attachments, you can upload any files, such as instructions, presentations, promotional materials, etc., to provide buyers with more detailed information about the product.

Note: The maximum file size is 10 MB.

The Add Ribbon section allows you to create one or more labels for the selected product, such as “Season's Hit,” “New,” or “Sale,” which will be displayed on the product card on the website.

Tip: All ribbons are displayed by default in rectangles in the upper left corner of the product card, but this can be changed in the Store Settings section. Click the Customize layout button to quickly navigate to the relevant settings.

Note: For more information on adding and configuring product ribbons, see our article.

The last section on the page, Tax Settings, allows you to specify the tax code for this product for further fiscalization of orders.

Note: For more information about this feature, see our article.

Returning to the top of the page, in the side menu you can configure:

  • Visibility controls the display of the product on the website. Select the “Draft” option to hide the product, or “Published” to display the product on the website.

Please note that the “Draft” option does not remove the product from your store, but only hides it from your customers on the live website.

  • The Price field allows you to set the cost of the product.

  • The On sale field allows you to set a discount from the standard price as a percentage or a fixed amount. Two prices will be displayed on the published website: the old (crossed out) price and the new discounted price.

Tip: For more information on working with discounts, see the article Setting a sale price.

Note: If a product has parameter options (for example, different colors or sizes), the Price and On sale for the product are configured separately for each option. These fields will not be available in the General tab — they can only be managed in the settings for a specific option, in the Product options tab.

The Track Inventory option allows you to enable inventory tracking for the selected item. Learn more about inventory tracking in the following article: Inventory tracking.

Below, you can specify the desired Availability status for the selected item. Available availability options:

  • In stock — the item is in stock and available for purchase on the website. The item is also displayed on the site map. This status is added by default for new items in your store.

  • Out of stock — the item is out of stock and unavailable for purchase on the website. It is not displayed on the site map. In the showcase block settings, you can choose whether to display products with this status.

  • Pre-order — the product is currently out of stock; this status is most often used for unpopular products with irregular deliveries or for new products. Products with this status are available for order on the website and are displayed on the site map and in showcase blocks.

  • Coming soon — the product is temporarily out of stock, but will be available soon. This status is used for products that are in high demand among buyers and sell out faster than they appear at the seller's store. We recommend using this status if you want to let the user know that the product will definitely be available in stock, but without fast delivery, so that the buyer does not go to competitors. Products with the Expected status are displayed on the site map and in showcase blocks.

Tip: All default status names are created in English, but you can edit them in the Store Settings section. Click the gear icon next to the Availability list to quickly access these settings.

Note: If a product has parameter options (e.g., different colors or sizes), these parameters are configured separately for each option. These fields will not be available in the General tab — they can only be managed in the settings for a specific option, in the Parameters tab.

If the product has the status Published, the Preview button will take you to the page of this product in your online store. This way, you can see how all the data entered in the settings is displayed.

Tip: publish the site to access the preview.

The Product Notes field allows you to add useful notes that will help you keep important information about the product, such as supplier information, purchase price, special sales conditions, etc.

Important: After making changes to the general settings, don't forget to click the “Save” button at the top of the screen, or press Ctrl + S (on Windows) or Cmd+S (on Mac) to apply the changes.

Tip: You can duplicate or delete the selected product using the button with three dots in the upper right corner.

SEO settings for products

The SEO tab allows you to configure the title, description, and URL of a page to improve the visibility and ranking of the selected product in search engines:

  • The Block page indexing switch will hide the selected product from search engines; it will not appear in search results.

Tip: In the store settings, you can also block its indexing entirely.

Important: if the product page has already been indexed by a search engine and you see it in the search results, it may take some time after applying the indexing block before the page is removed from the index.

  • The Page title field allows you to set the title for the selected product page. The recommended length should not exceed 70 characters. For better ranking, try to use a relevant keyword at the beginning of the title.

  • In the Description field, you can enter a more detailed description that will be displayed in the search results under the title. The recommended length should not exceed 150 characters. For best results, try to use relevant keywords at the beginning or in the middle of the description.

  • The default URL for the product will be generated automatically based on the product name. To edit the link, delete the existing one and add your own.

Important: All previous product URLs will be redirected to the new URL via a 301 (permanent) redirect. Reusing the previous URL is not possible, so make sure you are sure of your decision before changing the product link.

  • In the Keywords field, you can add words and phrases that will help visitors find products more easily and quickly. Keywords are separated by commas.

Related products

In the Related products tab, you can enable the display of random related products or select specific related products from the list of existing ones for each specific product. Displaying related products on the product page is a great way to increase the average check and, accordingly, sales volume.

Tip: refer to the article Adding related products for detailed information on configuring this element.

Product options

If you sell products that have several options (for example, T-shirts of different sizes, cups of different colors, etc.), you can set a specific parameter for them and fill it with the available options. This will allow you to add a drop-down list or lists to the product page, through which users will be able to select a specific option for the product unit presented.

For more information about product parameters, see this article: Product options.
